Sri Lankan Airlines

Hi. We are travelling to Chaaya Lagoon in feb on Sri Lankan whom we%26#39;ve never flown with before. Does anyone know if you can book %26#39;extra leg room seats%26#39; on check-in? The cost of upgrading to business is way beyond our budget. Any tips on Chaaya would also be great. Thanks

Hi pistonbroke,

I would say if you leave trying to get extra legrroom seats at check in , they would all be gone by that time, as you are traveling on Scheduled flights as against charter, the leg room will be plenty.

Sri Lankan Airlines

Hi there

Sri Lankan do not have extra legroom seats that you can book, other than business class. The seat pitch in economy is about 32';/33'; and quite comfortable. It is possible to pre-book your seat by calling their reservations dept at Heathrow (check out their website where you can look at the seating layout/numbers and select which ones you think you would like). However, they will not allow exit or bulkhead seats to be pre-booked in this way, so you would need to be near the front of the queue at check-in if you wanted to stand any chance of getting one of these. Another thing to beware of - if you have booked your holiday with Kuoni, they bulk book seats with the airline, so even if you have pre-booked your seat, you may well find that you have been moved on the outward flight. Coming back is no problem.

Register with their airmiles scheme then you can pre book seats in rows 10-12 which is effectively premium economy at no cost.

Thanks for all you replies so far. They are really appreciated. I will cetainly look into registering for air miles :)

We are booked with Virgin and usually fly with them and check in the night before (when flying to the Caribbean) so pay extra for the exit row seats (usually £50) to ensure a comfortable flight.

Never flown with Sri Lankan so hope they are as good as Virgin. So excited to be finally going to the Maldives as it%26#39;s always been my dream :)

Hi PB

In response to your last question, I%26#39;ve flown with Ssri Lankan to Male on a number of occasions - most recently this week. They are not as good as Emirates or Qatar but they are perfectly OK and have the advantage, as far as I am concerned, of being the only scheduled airline to offer non-stop flights from Heathrow to Male.

Just beware, Sri Lankan Airlines have changed their schedules so that flights are leaving Male 05.55 or 06.55 in the morning. This means you have to leave the resort the previous afternoon.

On Sri Lankan%26#39;s website their online flight schedules still shows the Tuesday direct non-stop flight UL 507 from Male to London Heathrow as 13.05.

Del %26amp; Mags - where did you get that information from? I%26#39;ve just checked the Sri Lankan website and my flight (15 Aug - 1 Sept) is still 9.35pm depart LHR, return from Male at 1.05pm. Thanks in advance!

Keep checking your departure time, our flight changed from early afternoon to 5.55 from Male. H%26amp;J have said that the Sri Lankan flights could change. We have been able to change airlines so now do not have to spend a night in Male.

Hi Gengy, when are you travelling? And did Hayes and Jarvis charge you for changing airlines? Thanks
