Useless flights with Sri Lankan

We had chosen flights with Sri Lankan when we booked our holiday so that we could do the direct flights. The return flights left early afternoon which would have made a more relaxing last day, not having to get up so early. But, Sri Lankan have now changed the flights so the Male-London flight now leaves at 5.55 in the morning. This makes the flights useless for us as we don%26#39;t want to stay at the airport hotel and anyone else who needs a seaplane transfer is also in trouble. What is the idea of having such an early flight when most people can%26#39;t use it?

oh not helpful at all, i know they have been changing the number of flights out recently and we have to do male-colombo-heathrow back because of it so boat transfer back to male for us :(

That is totally pathetic! and I am sorry for you to hear that. Normally flights are early morning like that as it%26#39;s cheaper. When are you off? - you may be able to change it slightly so that you can get better flights ... I%26#39;d kick a fuss and protest and see what they can do ... but I don%26#39;t know whether you are due to go imminently. I hope they havent asked for you to pay extra for a room at Hulule airport (or one on Male for that matter) as a result.....

If all else fails, try and ask for a room on Kurumba, 20 mins by boat for the night.

just checked....Sunday flights are still at 13.05pm!!! Thankfully that is our flight day!

Got it sorted! I have spent a lot of time on the phone today but H%26amp;J have been great. We are now going with Emirates via Dubai and will be travelling on the same dates. We will be arriving a lot earlier in the day than planned but have an early departure on the last day so don%26#39;t really lose out. As a bonus we get to fly on the A380 even though my wife could not care less and it beats going via Columbo which was the other option. We are going in mid May on a Monday (someone asked). Still don%26#39;t know why Sri Lankan have such early flights. A 5.55 am flight from Male is about as useful as an ejector seat in a helicopter. The whole thing is a pity as we did mind Sri Lankan when we have flown on them.

when we book it was a close choice between the Sri Lankan and Emirates flights, so it is no major upset at the end of the day. ☺
