Reethi Beach - Where to stay?

Hiya, will be visiting the maldives for the 1st time for the missus%26#39; 30th in June, but I%26#39;m getting really bogged down with the sheer amount of information!!

I%26#39;ve seen all the pictures of the water villas but am wondering if they%26#39;re worth the money? I quite like the idea of walking out of the room onto the beach, but will pay the extra for the water villa if it%26#39;s worth it? That goes for the AI too?

Also how busy will it be in June?

Help!!

Reethi Beach - Where to stay?

WV - either people love them or love the beach villas - personal opinion. I didn%26#39;t like the water villa, I like to walk straight out onto the sand. Also Reethi Beach the water villas don%26#39;t have direct access to the sea from the veranda so that may be a consideration.

AI all the time for us as we tend to like a drink or 6!!! This include soft drinks and water. Our last bill was over £1000 (didn%26#39;t pay cos AI) but it showed us what we would have had to pay. AI at Reethi is more expensive now but I still think it is worth it and it takes the worry out of the holiday. We still tried both the other restaurants - you still get your drinks free and 25% off the food.

Hope this helps.

That confirms what we were thinking to be honest, the idea of stepping onto the beach from the room is too tempting!

We do like a drink too, and to try out the foods, so AI seems the way to go, don%26#39;t fancy a £1000 bill.

Thanks for the help, I think we%26#39;ll be booking soon!

Like softail recommend AI at Reethi - our bill would have been £1100 for drinks over 2 weeks - £15.00 a day on water but didn%26#39;t pay as AI. Also agree would go for a beach not water villa. You will love it wherever your room is on the island!

Thats great, I%26#39;m literally a couple of clicks from booking!

A couple of last questions though, is going in June (probably 9-16th) going to be affected by monsoon season?

What are the specialty restaurants like and how much do they cost?

Thanks for all the help you%26#39;re all giving here!

Can%26#39;t help with the weather as only been once and in Jan/Feb but ate in the Moodhu bar 2x.It was excellent.OH had red snapper curry which he said was one of hte best fish curries he has ever had. Singapore fish ball brill, Singapore noodles fab and the best burger in the world. So good took a photo of it! Mushroom crepe fab as well and they will do it as a main course with a few fries! With the 25% discount you get on AI and having AI drinks it only cost about $50 each time. Well worth it for a change. Didn%26#39;t eat at the others but the grill smelled lovely most nights and we were told the maldivian restaurant was good as well. Go for it and get it booked!

All bungalows are pretty basic, the deluxe bungalows are bigger than st%26#39;d which is nice but for me their main attraction is their location they are (with a few exceptions)on the best part of the island. That said I would question whether the price to upgrade is really worth it now, (if only I could get the wife to agree)

Personally I wouldn%26#39;t get hung up about weather, monsoon seasons etc. People go all year round and the majority enjoy uninterrupted sunshine. Weather patterns out there are changing, as they are all over the world, and so it%26#39;s becoming harder to predict. But I think you%26#39;d be pretty unlucky to have your holiday spoilt by rain. Which normally only lasts a very short time and is an excuse to visit one of the Bars!

I%26#39;m gonna take issue with willow%26#39;s description of the accommodation as %26#39;pretty basic%26#39;. It just seems to give the wrong impression to me. It%26#39;s what I describe as %26#39;simple luxury%26#39; and the whole point of the Maldives for me is the natural unspoilt beauty of the place, so I much prefer the accommodation to follow that style, if you see what I mean? Maybe I%26#39;m just being over-sensitive today! :-)

Have booked for June!

Went AI in a standard villa in the end flying emirates from birmingham - Can%26#39;t wait!

Is there any specific room number we should try and request or avoid?

Will they do us a meal on the beach for OH%26#39;s 30th birthday?

Can%26#39;t wait for seaplanes sun and snorkelling now!!

Thanks for the help with our choice!

I would sugget you wait and see where you rroom is as if you do notlikeit they will shnge it for you withina couple of days.wehd 187 which is on the est side andi thought I wanted to move so they arranged straight away to move us to 168 the next day BUT 1 night in the room and loved it as even tho standard room its been done up recently to deluxe standard with big bathroom, espresso machine, sitting area etc so didn%26#39;t move. Therefore suggest get a feel for the island first then decide. You can always move your sunbeds to wherever you want them. we moved near the beach bar- ideal for the AI cocktails dripfeed!!!
