vilu reef

Hi, looking to book the vilu reef, it does look stunning but people are writing about sand bags and reef walls being un-sightly around resort, am I worrying over nothing.

vilu reef

most Maldivian islands have sand bags and reef walls .... the current shifts at various times of the year and different parts of the island end up of having sand bags..... when we were there in July, the sand bags were near the swimming pool but they weren%26#39;t too bad (as long as you accept that they are there for a reason!) .... so my opinion is that you are worrying over nothing.....you could always make it a request when booking that you want a sand bag free area in front of your room .... unless you have a water villa.

vilu reef

Hi Barnster,

I have not stayed at Vilu, but quite a lot of resorts are using sandbags and scaffolding to try and reduce the erosion of the beaches. Some islands are affected more than others, and some have not had any problems as yet.
