Summer Island Village building work?

Looking at going in june but on cosmos it says:

NOTE: Due to beach erosion caused by high tides, it is planned that a small group of rooms situated at the north end of the island will be demolished %26amp; rebuilt during this period. The affected area will be screened from view and none of the advertised facilities should be affected by this work. Due to the geographical layout of the Maldives, transfers are included in all holidays, INCLUDING Hot Offers. Please ignore any other information stating otherwise.

a bit anxious about booking now, always hear holiday stories of building work ruining it.

I can just imagine getting a room right near it. Is there any way you can request specific rooms? I am almost tempted to pay extra for a water bungalow but then this would push my budget...

Summer Island Village building work?

Hi

You can e mail mr waheed ( e mail address on summer island web site) the manager, he is very helpful and will do everything he can to accomodate your requests but you must remember there are no gaurantees and many other people will be requesting also, i would ask for a room on the sunrise side by far the best side of the island IMO, have you tried Mark%26#39;s travel they were cheaper than cosmos when we went last december, worth a look

Summer Island Village building work?

thanks for the reply will defintely contact but i see on the website there is no guarantee of specific rooms. May be worth the extra for the water bungalow. markstravel comes out around £150 more expensive.

Hi Ross

Have you abandoned your plans to go to Biyadhoo (your other thread)?

OD

i found a good deal for summer island, but still trying to convince my other half to come. Her parents friends went in june and said it was non stop rain for nearly 2 weeks...SIV looks a bit nicer so hopefully she can be convinced

Summer island resort has its own link on face book and Mr M Waheed is on there lot so you can chat directly with him. We are about to go to SIV in two weeks and have been to Biyadhoo in May/June 2007 when we had rain a couple of times only once was it for more than a hour, so you can never predict the weather, it is the risk you take going at that time with the cheaper prices- so will be able to compare both but I already know that the reef is not as good.

Also no beach towels and no coffee/tea making in the rooms.

Hi,

We%26#39;re going to SIV in three weeks!

This is going to be my first trip to the Maldives and I%26#39;m so looking forward to it.

Maybe we%26#39;ll see you there:-)

See you in the bar then !

You will love it but be aware the maldives are addictive - this is our 5th island.

Sg

Hi Sg,

The bar it is then:-)

See you there!

I would definitely go for a water bungalow. There is just no comparison and you have your own beach hut and sunloungers allocated opposite. You get the fun of watching the fish around your bungalow too.

Worth paying the extra.

You do not hear noise from the building work but some people are adjacent to it in their hut and the beach is poor at that end.

Have a good trip.
