Thinking of going to Maldives 3rd May just for 7 days (29 years wed!) and after reading the forums I am absolutely overwhelmed!! Would like half board somewhere quiet with a budget of about £3000. Any ideas where to start!! I am reading now is not a good time to book. I was hoping to get a reasonable deal but feel a bit mesmerised by it all to be honest!
Definitely feel the Maldividan virgin!! Thanks in advance.

Absolutely overwhelmed ......... Help!
Hi Barb,
In reality i wpold say all the Maldives resorts are quiet in there own way some are just larger than others,Any time is a good time for the Maldives , just a chance of some rain when you are planning to go.
Dont know how you want to go as in charter / scheduled-book direct, but look at First Choice web site this will give you ideas of islands available and rough costings, then work out what is important to you, as in type of accomodation good snorkeling or not things like tat- do you want a pool short / long journey on arrival boat or seaplane transfer.
These points will help us to help you more.

that week will be heavily booked as most islands lower their prices considerably on may 1st for the beginning of the low season - and chances are that the weather is still ok.
suggest to get offers for which islands are still bookable. that should narrow it down some . just bring that shortlist back here and we can help you decide.
you might also give us an idea what activities you are looking forward to. if snorkeling is a priority , then you want an island with a good accessable housereef, for example .
once you work out your expectations , finding your dream island will be easy .
Hi also have a look on mark%26#39;s travel they have some excellent offers on at the moment and again as said previously it will give you an idea of what and where, come back with a short list
regards susie
Thanks for advice. I have been looking and quite like the look of Angsana or Baros. You guys know what you are talking about and so would value your opinions on either of these two. Thank you. Getting excited about booking now!
Hi Barb,
Angsana Ihuru is amazing, and to date my favourite island, currently Kuoni have 7nts FB for £1588 going in June.
Worth giving them a ring!!

May is usually a very nice month - it is considered to be Low Season but in my experience it hardly ever rains, the benefits being that the prices are usually rock bottom. When looking for a Maldivian Island I always think its best to start a list of what IS and what ISNT important to YOU. Kind of thingsto consider...
House Reef (for snorkeling) or Lagoon island
Large island or small and more intimate
Restuarant and dining options,
Room comfort (all rooms are with air con and usually meet your every day needs) - some are very luxurious indeed.
Do you dive?
Then you consider the pricing and there are many May deals with the major UK operators, Thomas Cook, First Choice, Monarch Holidays, etc
Should you not choose an All Inclusive deal try to find out prices of drinks etc beforehand, drinking water (as well as other tipple) can be expensive in Maldives!
Hope this is of some use, enjoy
Fz
