couple of questions

Hi Chris,

Luggage is as is on main airline but only a couple of dollars per kilo if over, as for time dusk and dawn are about 5-30 ish for both, as you may or may not know some islands have tourist time = 1 hour ahead of Male. Remember all luggage on the seaplane goes in the rear so have camera on you when you get into the plane.

couple of questions

Hi Chris

I was wondering the same a couple of weeks ago and went onto Thomsonfly website to see. It says a TOTAL allowance of 25kg. each. You can take up to a max. 10kg as hand baggage which would leave you 15kg in your case or disribute it any way you like. Do remember though that the max. allowed for any individual case on the seaplane is 20kg. and your habdluggage is 5kg.

We are off in 4 weeks and I will pack one case between us weighing 20kg. and we will each take 1 handbag with 10kg each. We will then split one handbag into two at Male and put the other in the seaplane hold. I know that means we are wasting 10kg of our allowance but it saves faffing around at Male taking stuff out of the main case to make it lighter for the seaplane, which is what we did last time.

Hope this helps.

If you are not with Thomson I advise checking on your airline%26#39;s website.

My God on reading this back, it sounds complicated but it%26#39;s not really!

Guys,

Your bags will go on the seaplane whatever the weight!! it might just be that if they were 30kg+ that they may follow on another plane or boat. This will only be the case if the plane is full.

Have you noticed how a) what happens to the thousands of tourists who travel business/first class who are allowed up to 40kg weight each?? or b) how the seaplane staff never weigh your bags on the return leg, floating on a platform in the middle of the atoll!!

Regards

Emu

Wid,

all baggage / handbags regardless of size / weight go in the rear of the seaplane.

Hi Emu

When we flew BACK from Athuruga all luggage was weighed by the hotel staff before it went out to the seaplane.

Yeah I know but the official hand baggage weight is still 5kg for the seaplane. And the point is that what%26#39;s going in as hold luggage is checked in at the desk at Male and then you carry the hand stuff until it gets taken off you as you board you board the seaplane.

I like to know that I%26#39;m within the rules - saves any worrying ..... of which I am the world record holder!

Hi OD,

that is the first time I have heard of that!

Have had the cases weighed, on the pontoon, for the return journey.

I guess it is a case of %26#39;no pun intended%26#39; lol it always rains hard for days when I go to the Maldives in June-Oct, and my cases never get weighed on a return leg of a seaplane journey!!!

Am I the only person???

;-0

never had our cases weighed for the sea plane either journey and we have dive bags that usually weigh in at 30kgs and haven%26#39;t had to pay any extra - we would if we were asked to.

Both times the bags arrived on the same plane as us.
