return flights

I%26#39;m planning to use Emirates flights if we go to the Maldives next April but I have a query about the flight times on the return leg.

The big kid in me wants a seaplane transfer and the outbound flight ends up in Male just after 8am so that will be fine for transfer. However, the latest return flight to Dubai is 09:55 which I think is too early for the return transfer by seaplane.

So I was wondering what happens on the return leg when the flights are not chartered direct. Do you have to get the latest seaplane transfer to Male and hang around in the airport until nearly 3 in the morning, which is the earliest flight to Dubai.

Hi Weirdfish,

If I understand your thread correctly, the Emirates flight from Male to Dubai is at 09.55??

If this is the case then all is well, every island resort in any atoll (apart from Gan / Seenu Atoll) will get you to the airport for an 08.45 flight let alone an 09.55 flight.

Most islands outside North male atoll run a policy of 1hr+ Male time to allow an extra hour of daylight which helps with seaplane transfers.

Usually the main issue with Emriates is that their return flight is at 2am, which means hanging around from around 6pm til check in at 11.30pm.

Hope this helps.

yeh, to clarify, the default flights are indeed in the middle of the night, however, I%26#39;m looking into staying in Dubai for a couple of nights on the way home so therefore could use a later flight to Dubai as there would be no need to sync up with the Dubai to Heathrow flight.

I was concerned that the seaplane transfers wouldn%26#39;t operate early enough for the later flights out of Male but from what you%26#39;ve said, they possibly do.

BTW, this all sounded a lot clearer in my head :-)

Hi weirdfish,

To confirm then, they will definately connect with an 09.55am flight - I have done the Qatar 9am flight on three occasions from Ari %26amp; Baa atoll both journeys are 35mins in a seaplane, you will not miss that flight unless as stated in my previous post you are further afield in Gan.

Cheers.
