Reethi Beach Alternatives

Assuming Reethi%26#39;s a 10 can those of you who have been to other maldivian islands rate them compared to Reethi

Reethi Beach Alternatives

Lily Beach was also a 10 although has since been renovated so cannot comment now.

We went to Dhonveli in 2006 and would only give that a 5.

Reethi Beach Alternatives

Hi

We%26#39;ve been to Lily Beach and I give that a 10 also but like whats been said before probably won%26#39;t go again due to renovation and rising prices.

Been to Meedhapparu and I give that a 6.

Been to biyadhoo and I give that a 5.

Going to Reethi in April so I%26#39;ll let you know!

hi

been to biyadhoo great traditonal island great food but accomadtion very basic great staff great diving

went to dhonveli last year didnt like this island very commerical you could here the people in the next bunglow very clearly and there seem to be a lot of young babies there so it wasnt what we expected from a maldivan island we just wanted peace and quiet but we had babies crying on both sides of us.

wow emu I%26#39;m envious I have only been to reethi (3 times now) and going again in June, but prices have gone up so much now paying £6k for one 2 week holiday against £8k for two 2 week holidays is a no brainer for me so I%26#39;m looking for somewhere else thanks for giving me a starter for 10!

Hi Emu Ihuru is that Angsana Resort %26amp; Spa? if its got a spa thats a great start

Hi willow, it is Angsana, but I went when it was just Ihuru, planning on going back next year - Karla is there now ;-)

Cor blimey, Emu, that%26#39;s an impressive list! When did you stay at home? But very helpful. all the same. I%26#39;m impressed twice!

Hi emu have been reading info on islands on your list it seems that things like main bar, main buffet restaurant, beach/sunset bar, speciality restaurants, different st%26#39;d of accommodation are pretty standard fare, I just wondered having only experienced the superb service from Reethi staff how you found service on these different islands was that a constant?.

Hi Willow,

I have found that service on the whole has been excellent everywhere I have stayed!! - without opening up another debate on this - %26#39;already done that on other threads%26#39;

In recent years the locals/staff are more used to getting tips (if that is the right sentence) example for the first few years we visited the islands boat tipping was discretionary, my last visit to Fihalhohi had the boat staff shaking a pot for tips as we left the boat each time - this type of tipping happens all over Europe and beyond but I guess what I am trying to say is things have changed in the Maldives driven by us the tourists.

Based on the above I would say that Reethi staff were just as good as the staff at Ihuru / Biyadhoo %26amp; Full Moon (all three are completely different levels of island) - all of which I visited in the late 90%26#39;s - I returned to Biyadhoo in early 2003 and the staff had not changed.

One thing I will mention is that I find the Maldivian people the most friendly of all the workers on the islands, and some of the top resorts ensure that they employ at least 80% Maldivians before any other nationality.

Regards

Emu
