I am sooo.... excited to be returning to the Maldives after 11yrs free of my addiction! We went for our honeymoon 1990(once in a lifetime trip!!!ha ha) to Nakatchafushi (Oh... before they spoilt it and it became Huvafen Fushi, no 5* resort then!) Unfortunately that%26#39;s when the addiction began. It was a downward spiral with no other holiday ever matching up to the Maldives. We returned 11 (yes ELEVEN!) times, (we once went to Makunundu!!)It was heaven. Unfortunately children came and detox and rehab began...the clinics in Spain and Turkey were good BUT the vice remained............now I have succumed to temptation. Thanks to all your wonderful posts on here it sounds like I have found a similar island to nakatcha (afraid not really a 5* luxury person, feel the Maldives is not really about that, but each to their own, just a shame they think everyone wants that?)
So off to Biyadhoo in May (+ 2 chidren and still got original husband!) Can%26#39;t wait....
My answer to all the Weather questions on here is.....(%26amp; we have been to Maldives in Apr,Oct, Nov, Dec)....always had good weather in Apr,mixed rest, however Maldives is always good and rain doesn%26#39;t last long and that was 10 yrs ago. If you were coming to England you would say come in the Summer, yet last 2 Summers not been very great! You pays your money you takes your chance! You can%26#39;t get better than the equater tho can you??

I know exactly what you mean, we%26#39;ve only been 3 times but we%26#39;re ruined as far as beach holidays go!
We%26#39;ve been look for a cheap week away in Sept. As the weather is unpredictible in the Maldives we decided to have a look at Sharm el Sheikh (cos we love snorkelling) After many hours of research, even looking at the top end range of hotels, it just doesn%26#39;t come close!
Think we%26#39;re just going to book the Maldives and hope that the weather is ok.
We can%26#39;t decide between Biyadhoo and Embudu, decisions, decisions!
Have a great holdiay

If you are looking for somewhere other than maldives for a week . Rather than Sharm, go south on the mainland to places like El qusier , Marsa Alam they are not so built up, snorkelling at most hotels is good, less people if a diver the dives sites are never crowded except famous ones but you be unluckily if you are not only group on most. Downside if you consider it one, is the area is not yet commercialised so you are very hotel based but you can visit Luxor or Abu Simbal if you want a history fix and trips into the desert by horse, camel quad bike.
No it will not beat the Maldives or Biyadhoo but it is a cheaper alternative with only a 6hr flight.
