swimming with dolphins

Hi All,

I%26#39;m off to Maldives in a couple of weeks and i heard somewhere that there is a hotel that can organize swimming with dolphins not just looking at them from the yacht. Can anyone help?

..........No... as far as I am aware you cannot actually swim WITH Dolphins in Maldives...!

You go out on specially organzied trips to %26#39;spot%26#39; them or of course you can see them alongside the Dive boats, etc etc...

..........we were lucky to see a pod of Dolphins on our island they were just swimming past, but it was a lovely thing to see!

..........If you want to swim with Dolphins try Florida, believe they do it there!

Devine is right! There isn%26#39;t some organized pool where you jump in and swim with home fed dolphins. You go out on a boat and if you are fortunate you see the dolphins and if you are really fortunate they swim along with the boat and stay with you for awhile. Never actually been to one of those %26#39;zoos%26#39; where you ';swim with the dolphins'; and they certainly dont exist in the maldives to the best of my understanding.

.....yes and thank goodness for that!!

......Hello skibum havent seen you post on here for a while!!!!.....? Trust you are well, apart from the cold on the %26#39;old%26#39; bones, ha ha!!

.............best wishes the DmM..x..

Hi Inno4ka

Like the others, I am not aware of any ';swimm with the dolphins'; offerings in the Maldives - thank goodness.

You can go out on boats - most islands offer these excursions - and if you are lucky you will see them as nature intended - wild animals in their natural habitat. If they swim along side the boat or leap out of the water it is because they want to - not because they have been trained.

like the others this is not a done thing in the Maldives thankfully unlike Sharm, israel, Cuba or Florida to name a few areas. Although I have heard that sometimes the boats spotting the dolphins have allowed people in the water when they are around BUT how true not sure. These are wild ones and normally very wary of humans and boats. To be truthful just to see them playing in the water especially the spinner types is joy enough.

Hi SG,

It is true that some boat crews will allow you to get in the water, but the dolphins are wild and do not stay around for long!! especially hearing 20+ tourists jumping in the water chasing after them lol ;-)

Emu

know excalty what you mean Emu :-) - but then some of us have been luckier than most and had dolphins join them on a dive. (But not in the maldives)

Sg

Some of you have been lucky enough to be snorkelling with dolphins....and have the camera with them to prove it, eh Emu :-)

Ian

Hi Ian,

I was very lucky that day, everyone in the bar that night was saying how they saw the dolphins from the beach - swimming in %26amp; out of the lagoon. When I got back to the beach my wife said you missed the dolphins they came really close to the beach!! her face was a picture when I showed her the video.

Regards

Emu

Hi Emu

That must have been some experience....i doubt I%26#39;d have been able to fumble my way to get the camera going in time with the excitement!

cheers

Ian
