Which island is best for us?

Please excuse me asking a question that has possibly been asked loads of times before, but I am new to the area%26#39;s forum.

We are two mid 50 year old (hubby and wife) who are interested in going to the Maldives mid June. Although we%26#39;ve looked at TA in depth and done our homework on the internet for the Maldives, we simply cannot decide which island is best for us.

We don%26#39;t want a really small island as we would like some sort of activity other than the sea sport activity. We both love swimming but think we would be more intereted in a beach hut than a water hut. Perhaps a hotel? We want a touch of luxury and assume peace and quiet are a foregone conclusion. We don%26#39;t want to have to travel for several hours after landing at the airport.

Would we be better to opt for a 2 centre holiday?

Any advise at all would be gratefully received.

Daisy,

Each island is the hotel, and beach villas are luxury/ the Maldives is luxury although at varying degrees, peace and quiet is what its all about the only time you see people is at meal times and in the bars of an evening, the bigger islands have lots to do such as--Sun --Meed--Kuredu--Meeru although i would not personaly recomend Meed,

what Rooms are you looking for and what is the buget also what type of stay as in AI-FB-HB-BB.

As for traveling ,the furthest is Gan at about 1 and 1/2- hours on another plane--other transfers are by seaplane or boat--boat depends on the size and will be about 2 hours , furthest seaplane is i think a max 50 mins--all depending on what island.

We would have a budget of around £3k for accommodation and would only expect to stay 1 week.

Regarding board, we have not yet decided. We are open to options.

I understand there is building work going on which we would not want to be near.

Having read your post I will look at Sun, Kuredi and Meeru.

Hi Daisy

Have a look at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu. It is around 100 villas which is a medium sized island by Maldivian standards. There is a tennis court and you can play beach volleyball. However, that%26#39;s pretty much the extent of the activity in the Maldives. Once you get there you soon get used to everything being sea or beach based.
