we are going for first time to reethi beach in 2 weeks time (2nd march). Neil is a keen fisherman and eager to know if any fishing opportunities there - i know there are excursions of night fishing, but are they any other chances for him to fish?

Other than the organised trips Fishing in the Maldives is illegal for tourists and also from the beech. The organised trips day / night fishing can be good but are only hand lines over the side, although i have caught some big fish doing this. The other type of fishing is deep sea from a proper boat with 2 chair seats at the back and deep sea lines, looking for Shark--Tuna --Sailfin--Wahoo and the likes- but i must warn you this is expencive Very expensive, can cut cost by doing 2 hour trip or half day and also by sharing the trip / boat with others , most resorts have a postit board where people advertise for people to share / buddy.

wow what a speedy reply!!! thanks for that. will let him know. with only 2 weeks exactly to go, am so excited! Have become addicted to reading this forum - its so helpful and just makes me wish the next 2 weeks away even more!!!
