Hi,
I have booked to go and stay in a deluxe water villa and after seeing a copy of the resort map, I notice there is a strong current around these villas. I am ashamed to say that I cannot swim and am starting to get a little worried. Can anybody give me any info about this.
Thanks
Deluxe Water Villa
The current direction depends on the time of year, so at some times it%26#39;s stronger near the dlx water villas than at others.
It%26#39;s more of a warning to weaker swimmers to take care than something to be very concerned about. The water around there tends to be only waist deep so it%26#39;s more of a bother if you%26#39;re actually in the water than upright with your feet in the sand.
However if you can%26#39;t swim then I%26#39;m not sure how much time you%26#39;re going to spend in the water anyway. I%26#39;d recommend sticking to the very shallow water by the beach rather than the slighter deeper water around the villa. And of course, don%26#39;t go anywhere near the water if you%26#39;re on your own.

Hi,
Don%26#39;t worry there are plenty of shallow places in Rangali even if the weather is so so.
My mother in law couldn%26#39;t swim either so I bought her this long floating device (called frite, looks like a very long tube made of foam). We are regulars in Rangali so we%26#39;ve left it there.
When are you going? We will be back in April, if your there I%26#39;ll let you use it if you want.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply - you have put my mind at rest!
Many thanks also for offering to loan me your ';frite';. We are actually going in May and I am so looking forward to it, can%26#39;t wait to sit in the jacuzzi on the deck! We have never been to the Maldives before and really do not know what to expect. Last year we went to Dubai and loved it there so we decided to return there this year and combine it with a week in the Maldives. Any info on the resort would be greatly appreciated, enjoy your stay.
Thanks again,
Dear luv2travel064,
Don%26#39;t you worry, you%26#39;ll love it. I remember that our initial trip to the Maldives was supposed to be '; A once in a lifetime experience'; it happened to be a twice a year every year thing.
We have fallen in love with the Maldives and more so with Rangali. The place is just wonderful with gorgeous scenery and a 100% relaxing feel.
As you are going in May the monsoon has already started, so you%26#39;ll have a higher change of rain and thunderstorms. Don%26#39;t let this put you off, thunderstorms in Rangali are the most beautiful thing.
Now for the tips;
*Eat breakfast late so you can skip lunch and have just two meals a day (portions are big).
*If you do want to eat at lunch go at the Rangali bar, they have plenty to choose from.
*Have breakfast at Vilu, in my opinion, the food is not the best but the scenery is.
*Best quality breakfast is Atoll Market.
*Do Dream Island excursion.
*Do the Lobster and Champagne BBQ.
*Do Sunset Grill and eat the Seafood risotto (better than any Italian risotto and that comes from an Italian).
*Bring tons of suncream and put some on even if there is no sun.
*Bring a digital camera and an underwater housing (see my PS note).
*No shoes, one pair of flip flops.
*Dresses are perfect for women, wear cotton.
*Bring tons of books.
*Cross the 500 meter bridge at night so you can see the Mantas.
Any other questions, just ask.
PS: Snorkeling in the Maldives is probably the best in the world. Don%26#39;t let the fact that you can%26#39;t swim prevent you from doing so. I%26#39;ve seen many people in Rangali that couldn%26#39;t swim (lots of Asian people usually can%26#39;t), I%26#39;ve seen them use the life-vest available in the bungalow to do so. I thought it was a brilliant idea, of course if you do so, have a good swimmer accompany you. It would be a pity not to meet the colorful locals swimming amongst the coral. Ohhh, and don%26#39;t forget your goggles !!!!
Regards,
Pitch
Hi Pitch,
Thanks so much for all your useful advice, can%26#39;t wait to go now, just hope it doesn%26#39;t rain too much, I am a real sun worshipper!
