chaaya dhonveli, meeru or sun island?

Me again...

Thank you runpole for all your help on sun island.

Would just like to know if anyone has any imput on which you would choose out of these 3 islands as we seem to be a bit torn after reading good reviews about all 3 and we like the sounds and look of all 3. Could you throw in your sixpence worth as to which is betetr and why? Would be AI (i think) and march/april 2010.

Thanks again....

chaaya dhonveli, meeru or sun island?

anyone got any thoughts???

Rumpole - sorry for the mispelling of your name....

Thanks

chaaya dhonveli, meeru or sun island?

i never thought the day would come that i%26#39;d recommend sun island .. grins .. but between those three , thats a clear choice for me .

dhonveli is very close to male .. busy atoll .. no ';island feeling';

meeru is overcrowded and has construction work going on and is also in north male atoll

sun island is beautiful , if large and is in the south ari atoll , with incredible dive sites, possible whale shark sightings and a more relaxed athmosphere.

if you really want a big, busy place .. have you looked at kuredu?

Caz,

My vote goes to Sun, considering poss building works on Meeru.

Rumpole

Definetly don%26#39;t want busy or loud or overcrowded so we ruled out Kuredu as the reviews put across that these were like this.....but reviews for dhonveli and meeru didn%26#39;t reflect this.....so many thanks for your help!

They were just ones we found with first choice and cosmos.....i%26#39;m going to try fin a few more prices today but i think most flights are released until april but we want it booked before then...i know this limits choices but hey ho.

For sun island.....there%26#39;s a 2k difference between beach deluxe and water bungalow......is it worth it? Is it worth booking beach and upgrading once there if there%26#39;s one available?

find lots of pictures of all of these islands here http://www.malediven.net/Bilder/index.htm

in my humble opinion, especially the dhonveli ones will speak for themselves malediven.net/Bilder/鈥mage3.htm but everyone has different expectation and if this is your first maldive trip , you will have a great time on whichever choice .

enjoy !

When we were at Sun Island a couple of years ago they were offering upgrades to WBs for less than $70 a night, but only for people in Deluxe rooms.

This may make you laugh but I%26#39;ll share my story with you.

I%26#39;d originally booked to go to the Dhonveli in March 2010 and was then alerted by First Choice that there would be building work going on there whislt we were there so I changed it to Meeru.

After doing a fair bit of research and with great help from this forum I found out that although Meeru is beautiful the standard rooms are not! There is also an overbooking problem that occurs there (I was told) and you can end up in these alwful standard rooms

SO

I then changed it to Sun Island and am happy with my choice. We have booked all inclusive and upgraded to a super delux room. We cannot afford the water bungalows as 2k differnece is too much.

only deluxe....not super deluxe? Theres only a difference of 拢84 for the 2 weeks between going deluxe and super deulxe, but 2k between super deluxe and WB. If they did that deal this time it would still save 拢1000 rather than booking wb with first choice. But then you%26#39;re playing with luck i guess as to whether you%26#39;d get the chance to upgrade or not.

ahhh fudge thanks for that. Yeah, it was only as i looked at it properly i realised the 2k difference.....which is a lot if you end up not liking it as i%26#39;ve read in various places about them being noisy, but my other half really fancies staying in one where i as i was more up for any accomodation with a jacuzzi!

OK....out of interest then......although i think sun island is top of my list at the mo.....

(these are in our price range) Adaaran club rannalhi, Chaaya reef ellaidhoo, Paradise island, Holiday island, Vilamendhoo.....any thoughts???

Just for anyone that doesn%26#39;t know my brief.......going AI, we%26#39;re not really fussed about diving, snorkelling and water sports or entertainment etc......just to completly relax and unwind. Would love a spa and jacuzzi in the room but they%26#39;re bonus%26#39;.
