Can anyone tell me whether a standard room booked through First Choice at Meeru is actually a land/beech villa? I have read conflicting reports on this and First Choice don%26#39;t really make it clear.
Any information would be gratefully received as we are going on 18/3.
First Choice - standard room meeru
Hi ASC
According to the FC web site description of Meeru accommodation, their lowest grade is a Beach Villa. This equates to what Meeru call a Land Villa.
The Standard rooms at Meeru are in the middle of the island, close to the desalination plant and the staff quarters. They are generally used as overflow rooms when the island is overbooked. You do NOT want a Standard room!
For the avoidance of any doubt I would check your booking again with FC.
Hope this helps

First Choice - standard room meeru
Hi, the standard rooms are usually the ones in a block. They used to be the old staff quarters in the middle of the island. Very basic.
asc,
As you are under the 50 days before going it will cost you to change islands so you need to have it sorted and i would upgrade now and get it sorted.
For a Maldives island / resort to be using these rooms is a total digrace its like going to Pontins / Butlins in the 60s, how the heck they get away with it ????? i dont know,
But you defo need to check and you defo defo dont want one of those rooms..
Rumpole
I am going to say to you to do as others have advised and get some clarification of the room or better still upgrade!!!!!
I had booked to go to Meeru and was booked into a land villa and later found at that these rooms are like something from the 1960%26#39;s and not what you would want or expect on the maldives!
I was horrified to discover that there would be no real view and I felt it would ruin our trip.
I then contacted first choice and told them I wanted to change islands.
First choice also told me that the land vilas are nice BUT that is not what I was hearing on here!
Land villas (200%26#39;s %26amp; 400%26#39;)are better than standard rooms(800%26#39;s)
They are detached and face the beach.
Standard rooms are in a U shaped block near the restaurant. They only view from the balcony is the rooms opposite.
I would need them to pay me to stay in a standard room!!
Having booked to visit Meeru from March 4th for 2 weeks. Tried to upgrade rrom from the Standard room and told that it isnt possible. We booked on January 30th.
We have lterally today just been informed by First Choice that there is building work at the Resort to create a new pool close to the Pavilian Bar which is near where our room will be.
Can anyone please let me know what noise and disruption this is likely to give to our holiday?
If you log on to www.meeru.co.uk there are reviews from people who have just returned.
It should put your mind at rest.
Hi im afraid the standard roooms are the standard rooms not the land villas!
We booked a land villa and we got a standard room. the standard rooms are fine
i agree the standard are fine. they are so near everything. they are clean, got fridge, t.v. big bed. they are a bit dark due to tinted glass. we got 2 sun loungers and put them by our door. just to have a read. would of prefered a better room but we could only get a standard room. but for what we paid , we had the same as people who had paid 8 grand. just we had to walk 50 yard to beach. oh dear.
We had a similar worry so I emailed First Choice last night. This is their reply:
Thank you for your email.
Further to your enquiry; I can confirm that rooms described as %26#39;Double4%26#39;
on our reservations system for the Meeru Island Resort are Beach Villas.
Beach Villas are the standard room type at this property.
Kind regards
