Best Exchange Rate?

...My return trip to the Maldives isn%26#39;t for another 5 months yet but due to the massive dip in the exchange rate, especially from GBP to USD, I wondered where other TA%26#39;s have found - or know where - their bargain American Dollars from?

I used a tip from Simon Calder the travel expert and that is to order your currency on-line and either have it delivered (if you want it now at the rate when you order) or pick up at airport. It is commission free and slightly better rates than walking in. If you do airport collect it will be the rate on the day you collect (online rate not airport rate) rather than the day you ordered that you will receive. I used ICE but most of the big airport exchange companies offer so best to shop around.

Why not get a few dollars for tipping and then using a card to settle everything else? We opened a Nationwide account (there are others available too) that doesn鈥檛 charge for foreign transaction or withdrawals. You get a much better exchange rate than the tourist rate with no handling fees etc. The good thing with doing this is that you don鈥檛 have to worry about having excess money left over where the choice would normally be to keep hold of it until your next holiday or get done on the buy back exchange rate. Just don鈥檛 loose your card like I did the first day of our holiday last year!
