Hiya
Can anyone tell me whether Vilamendhoo is one hour ahead of Male. I have heard some islands operate this time system?
I tend to get bitten a lot by mozzies and the likes. Will i need a mosquito net? I have got some Repel 100. Does anyone have any tips for keeping them at bay?
Thanks x

Vilamendoo IS an hour ahead of Male time.
No need for a mozzie net but you are best advised to use one of those plug in mozzies repellent for your room, plugs are the british standard 3 pin on Vilamendoo.
And a spray containing Deet when you are out from dusk till dawn.
The main time you are likely to be bitten is when it starts to get dark and you are still on the beach and haven%26#39;t put on any repellent.

Questions about Vilamendhoo
hi there just got back from villa yesterday, you will have a wonderful time.
Mossies well I got bit even though I sprayed deet and I dont usually get bitten, now my partner who usually comes up in terrible lumps went prepared. antihistamines 3 days before he went and while he was there and also a teaspoon of marmite every day and guess what no bites... hope this helps
Is it true that there are more Mozzies at Vilamendhoo than any other resort? It just seems reading on TA alot of people complain more about mozzies at Vilamendhoo than any other resort??
Calcium tablets before you go and whilst there, also odourless garlic tablets daily.

Rumps is that real about the garlic ect... it certanly sounds better than the marmite in the other post !! mike
I came back from Vila 2 weeks ago and the time was the same as Male.I tried using ';Natural'; mozzie repellant and got bitten, once I reverted to 50% deet i didn%26#39;t get bitten again.I bought a spray from the shop to do the room before bed but I%26#39;m sure you get bitten walking around.
My best tip is to take a can of magicool plus (from a chemist). If you get bitten this immediatley stops the itch for ages. Regards
Thanks everyone. I have bought the calcium and odourless garlic tablets. As for the marmite, this may sound a silly question but did you take a jar with you or do they have it there?
Cheers
take it with you, although you may see a few elderly jars lying around.I%26#39;m afraid to say that I have it for breakfast every day,and still get bitten.Make sure you take a plastic jar and wrap in plastic, imagine the mess if it broke!
Hi verdiandwife,
yep the garlic works for us--but if not it does no harm--think a combination, is good but still use a high deet lotion so cover all bases.
Rumps
There will be no room for my clothes by the time I have packed half the contents of Boots and Tescos to keep the mozzies away. But it doesn%26#39;t matter as I got home from work today any my tickets have arrived!!!! Woo hoooooooo xxx
