Previous topic on faru was a little dissapointing.
Ref no 5 in popularity but then being commented by someone about not wanting to be 1.5 miles from the end of an international runway. If so many positive reviews have being submitted about Faru, then for someone who thinks it worthwhile in posting a negative comment, then it might be useful to readers of this site if that opinion was to be elaberated upon. A lot of the reviews about Faru have, to myself, appeared to be very honest. Yes it doesnt sound like the best island resort out of the pack, but for the maldives experience it sounds ideal. A huge factor in our choice of this resort was the sound of equality among all its guests in its accomodation and its friendliness of all who work or vacate there. It also appears to deliver the all inclusive package which is advertised unlike so many other resorts where you have so many other add ons. Could this be why Faru is as high on the list as it is, which to me sounds well deserved.
Rant over!

Faro has a large through put, and because of cost sees a lot of first timers, who get the wow factor, and post because of that hence the No 5 spot.
It is only when researched and been a few times, that you get a little more picky and learn what else is out there for the same or a little/ lot more money.
But yes Faro does meet a lot of firstimers needs.
Rumpole
club faruThanks again Rumpole. Nice for some productive feedback. Sounds like you have a fair bit of knowledge on tee Maldives. Have you being to Faru and if so would you reccomend a specific side of the island when booking a room and ground floor or 1st. Also which island would you put at the top of your list taking into account value for money.
JJ,
You have to decide do you want people above you who may be noisey--do you want the view from an upper room or do you want the sand at your feet and no stairs to go up when drunk LOL. We always arrive see what we get and then decide and if needed ask for a transfer, which they will do if they can and we have always been lucky.VFM-all depends what you want, we like the AI concept as it works for us-others dont and they will soon tell you, but it takes away the thinking and worry, we also dont like the 5 star resorts as they to us are not the real maldives, although we have done it at other places they are uncomfortable for us-we like chill and dont like flunkies buzzing around or pretenciousness. we also dont like or use pools or animation teams, so each to there own.
People on the forum will help-just do research before you book as any Maldives hol is expencive but as i have said some more than others.
I have PMed you with some other stuff.
Hope this helps.

Once again thanks Rumpole. Good sound advice which will be well heeded.
Faru gets a healthy rating because 152/230 gave it a 5/5 and 52/230 gave it 4/5.
In terms of throughput, well I have no idea how many have visited and wouldn%26#39;t like to talk about that of which I have no experience.
However what I can say that it has been reviewed less than the Conrad, Bandos, Meed, Meeru and Kuredu. Only the Conrad rates higher. So the number of reviews does not guarantee a high rating (Meed being a very good case in point).
These reviews are of course from people who%26#39;ve actually been there. I think I%26#39;d listen to these reviews more than speculation from someone who has never visited.
Just a thought. ODNT.
the Vet hasnt been yet .

With all due respect as the person who made the comment that you referenced:
Apparantly you didnt read my post completely.
What I said was that I would be more than happy to go to FARU if somebody offered me a free trip. If you research my posting history I dont believe that you will find any evidence of a post where I have bashed Club Faru. It appears to be a fine resort with what apparantly is a lovely staff. For those who want to be close to Male or who frankly dont have the budgets to go to one of the more expensive resorts Club Faru would make a fine choice.
That being said if given a choice I would personally perfer not being close to Male both because of the potential airport noise and the increased ship traffic. That same reservation would apply to staying at Kurumba which is a much more expensive resort than Faru. Again with all due respect I do not believe that a resort that sits next to a runway is the ';ideal'; Maldives Experience no matter how many Stars its rated at but each to their own. People have their own reasons for staying at various resorts and thats good...otherwise we would all be trying to go to the same place.
No offense was intended towards Faru which for its price appears to be a fine resort.
jolly .. i don%26#39;t think anyone is bashing faru at all.
personally i have not been there and i would not go, simply because its not a maldive experience to me.
but i have read every single one of the reviews and i have seen faru many times from the air (which gives me an idea how busy boat and air traffic is)
based on that , faru seems a perfectly great resort for those who like an island that offers a lot to look at, like male , the airport , boat traffic , etc.
there is nothing wrong with that and i would imagine a lot of people really enjoy watching an active scenery.
club faru is also towards the bottom of the price scale , which makes it great value for money .
many of the guests tend to be first time maldive visitors who are amazed by the simple beauty of probably the whitest beach and the bluest water they have ever seen. all that results in good reviews and that makes faru a successful resort .
but do i think its the 5th ';best'; resort in the maldives ? no.. i think that is pushing it a bit.
and that has nothing to do with price or stars. I do know the hilton conrad firsthand and i happen to think that its also not as ';good'; as many of the smaller , quieter islands. may they cost the same , less or more .
which brings us to the crux of the matter - the islands are ';personal';. most of us eventually find their dream island but there is no such thing as best or worst - period.
you cannot rate the resorts any more than you could say that a corgy is a better dog than a labrador. they are all different and we all have diffrent expectations and priorities.
its really that simple
No Roy, the ';Vet'; hasn%26#39;t visited me yet. Now just be a good little boy and admit you%26#39;ve never been to Faru and therefore you%26#39;re advice on this matter is as much use as a outside toilet on a plane.
Sorry, I forgot.
You never did answer JJ%26#39;s question. Have you been to to Faru?
I%26#39;ll save you the bother of answering.No.
