Plugs on Vilamendhoo island

Hi,

We are going to Vilamendhoo soon can anyone help out what type of plugs are available in the rooms and do you need an adapter?

Also I went on to the tourist information site and it mentioned that if you bring alcohol into the country it is confiscated and bonded until departure. Anyone got any further info on this?!

Have not been to Vilamendhoo but my experience at Maldive resorts is they all had 3 prong plugs like those used in the UK.

As for your other question ....

Yes it is illegal under Maldivian law to bring alcohol into the country. Bags checked at the airport and they will indeed confiscate your stash if they catch you. Resorts are exempted from the alcohol prohibition so there is no shortage of available booze for you to drink (although they may not have your favorite brand).

Plugs in Vilamendhoo are same as here but you might want to take an extension lead or a couple of double plugs as there are only two sockets in rooms. No hairdryers either.

Yes, they confiscate your alcohol!

We went for the first time last year and are returning in a couple of weeks.
