We are just back from 10nights on beautiful Filitheyo Island in July 2008 (this was our second visit to the Maldives, we went to Fihalhohi two years ago) and we are so longing back already!
We had the most wonderful time on this idyllic and relaxed island paradise with its lush green vegetation, beautiful palm-fringed beaches, fantastic housereef for snorkeling, varied and tasty food especially the amazing desserts buffets, the best smoothies we have ever tried, excellent service and very friendly staff and then all the palms everywhere - we just loved it there!
We also wrote a detailed trip report of Filitheo Island Resort here on Tripadvisor, which is online now.
Here is also the link to our photoalbum, click on album ';Maldives 2008'; if anyone is interested (copy and paste the WHOLE link into your browser):

Thanks everyone for all the useful postings! It really is helpful checking this Maldives forum for tips before booking a trip! Next up is Kenya for a third round, but we`ll be back to the Maldives next year again! Just can`t stay away from this wonderful island paradise!

Just back: Beautiful FilitheyoWow, amazing photos, great review! Thank you, Annika%26amp;Peter!
Were there any children around when you were there? Also, which island did you find more beautiful naturewise, Filitheyo or Fiha? And which has better snorkeling?
Thanks.
Just back: Beautiful FilitheyoHey welcome back.
Very nice Photos and great review, by the sounds of it you had a fantastic time.
I have just spent 20 Mins looking and reading and has really got me in the mood was almost there myself.
@azurelagoon
Thanks! Glad you appreciated the review and the pics!
Yes, there were a few families with children, one from the UK, Germany and I think one from China at Filitheyo while we were there, but they seemed very well behaved, so not much noise. They mainly hung around the pool during the day, so it was quiet at the beach.
It is difficult to compare Fihalhohi and Filitheyo, they are both beautiful, just different in size, atmosphere, island lay-out, transfer etc.
Naturewise, Filitheyo is definitly EVEN MORE beautiful with its many palms bending over the beach %26amp; the ocean.
We liked the snorkeling at Fihalhohi, but we loved the snorkeling at Filitheyo, which has an even more varied housereef.
We can recommend to also try the snorkeling trips that the island has to offer. They go out in North Nilandhe Atoll by dhoni to some amazing reefs with fantastic table corals and coral growth %26amp; colour, turtles etc. A real bonus to the housereef!
Fiha was our first Maldives island and we had a fantastic honeymoon there two years ago and we wouldn`t have wanted to change that, but we loved everything about Filitheyo Island so much that we might be repeaters in the future and we are hoping to be able to go there again next year!
Hope that helps!

Thanks! :)

Thanks A %26amp; P, I am sure either A or P is a good researcher and has appreciation of beauty as she/he has chosen two of the most beautiful, natural islands in the Maldives with fantastic house reefs. Also either A or P is a brilliant photographer. I suspect the researcher is A, and the photographer is P, but I may be wrong, of course.
Thanks again.
Hi Annika %26amp; Peter
Thank you so much for the AMAZING photos and review.
The underwater photos have the most incredible colours. What camera did you use?
Best regards
Tracy
Hi A%26amp;P,
Good photos, and glad you enjoyed, highlights how much better Filtheyo is over Fihalhohi for snorkelling %26amp; diving, and nice to see some great table corals growing back!
Regards
Emu
Hi Annika %26amp; Peter

A%26amp;P!
Thanks for your great review...and fantastic pics. I would also like to know what set-up you used...why?
Cause I will be there end of Sept! We cannot wait. The girls are already planning their packing!
We are relieved to hear the building works did not affect your holiday.
I have had great service and help with bookings from the hotel so far so here%26#39;s hoping that it continues!
THANKS azurelagoon, Tracy, Emu, Ian and Tuberider007 for the comments! Glad we could help with the review %26amp; glad you enjoyed the pics! :)
As for the photos, we both like taking pictures on holiday and we used two different cameras: one Panasonic DMC-FZ5 for the ';overwaterphotos'; and for the UW photos, we used a Canon Digital IXUS 60 + underwaterhouse (hardshell) for that camera and that works fine for us.
For all of you who will be going soon, have a fantastic time!
