After reading on this forum it suprising me how many people moan about the stnadrad rooms, the stnadard rooms are fine, i read some one said they would have to pay me to stay in that prison!!
Gobsmacked, they have a bed, basic but alot os space just like my bedroom at home. if your on your honeymoon i could understand or if you wanted deluxe rooms fair anough.
But i belive that a nice bed, toilet clean is fine for me and my family.
After traverling to africa and seeing children who have no beds it makes me more than happy to stay some where less deluxe as im a beliver in atleast you have a roof over your heads : )
If they were rat infested, ant infested fair doos but the rooms are fab inmy eys and you get lovley flowers on your bed every day lush!
meeru standard rooms!
Siobhan
People moan because we pay a lot of money to go to Meeru, so want a certain standard.
If you are happy in a standard room that%26#39;s you choice.
But having been recently and seeing what the room choices are, they are not what I want!!
If I was staying in Africa I would have lower expectations.
Don%26#39;t expect flowers on the bed every day, it depends on your room boy.
meeru standard rooms!
I paid £2000 each allinclusive to go to meeru and we were happy in a standard room. bliss!
maldives thats paradise whats a room, its only where you sleep and get dressd.
i dont mind people moaning at all thats up to them, just some peoples comments are so snobby! i mean its the maldives!
Roll on next years trip!
I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s snobbery. Its just as people travel more these days, they get know what they want from a holiday.
I personally love having an outdoor bathroom in the maldives and a private balcony.
If we all wanted the same things, it would be a boring world.
2k each Meeru in that room.
You were robbed.

Snobby??? I am afraid I do not agree with that statement at all.
Many of us have saved for years to visit the Maldives and expect certain standards and value for money.
I can see partly where you are coming from when you mention some of the things you have seen in Africa. My Son saw lots of poverty when he visited Thailand and it broke my heart to hear of it and that people are still suffering. Nothing should make that acceptable.
However I have saved for my Maldives holiday for 2 years and when I heard what could happen with the rooms on Meeru I did change islands. For us it may be a once in a life time visit so what if we do want pure luxuary for just 7 days? That%26#39;s what we are paying for.
I have great respect for the workers at the maldives and will tip them well and appreciate all their hard work.
Hi Siobhan
If all you want from a room is somewhere clean to lay your head and shower etc, then I agree the standard rooms serve their purpose. Although I have to say that £2k a head sounds a lot to me!
If, however, like many vistors to the Maldives you want to sit on your balcony/decking/verandah and watch the sun rise or set, then these rooms do not fit the bill.
I don%26#39;t think it is about being ';snobby';, it is about what you want from a holiday.
Me, personally, I don%26#39;t want a standard room.

were booking to go to the hilton one end of the year cant wait! i think then i might go for some deluxe as i guess they are all quite nice.
But for me meeru standards were just perfect for what we wanted.

Enjoy the Hilton then. Expect you will enjoy the papering there too.
Or may be even the pampering - unless you are in to DIY!!
