mobile phone mast on Fihalhohi

Hi, we are contemplating a 1st holiday to the maldives and really liked the look of Fihalhohi. I have just picked up a 1st choice brochure and the arial view of the island shows a mobile phone mast in the middle of the island. There are loads of photos and reviews on TA but the mast is never mentioned, my question is whether it is intrusive to a ';desert island'; holiday?

Initially it is upon arrival, as it is the largest one in the south male atoll, but most islands do have them in varying sizes depending on location, as they are comms towers to have contact with Male and other atoll capitals.

When your on the island you very rarely see it.

Have just returned from a fantastic holiday on Fihalhohi and yes the phone mast does look an eyesore as you approach the island. When you are actually on the island the mast just seems to vanish in the trees and you walk past it without realising it is there because of the denseness of the coconut palms. The island is beautiful, plenty of wildlife, snorkelling is brilliant and the staff are great. It was our first time in the Maldives and we would go to Fihalhohi again. Once on the island you will forget all about the mast because the trees hide it so well.
