reethi beach - getting weighed for the sea plane??????!?!

just got our tickets - another step nearer!!

I read in there that we may have to be weighed before getting on the sea plane - did anyone actually have to do that??

No-one has mentioned it on here, so maybe it doesnt really happen - but would love to know how that works if it has happened to anyone else.

11 sleeps to go... all packed already!

lynn,

It does happen but dont worry about it--so long as you are OK with the weight on the international flight the seaplane aint a problem, like all flights weight ratios and fuel calculations still have to be done,as you come through passport control and are taken to seaplane checkin , they weigh your luggage and unless theres a problem you wont notice, if over its only a few dollars per Kilo.

thanks Rumps - I am fine with the luggage bit, but I was thinking more about the bit that said we (as in our bodies!) may have to be weighed - do they really do that?

Lynn,

no they dont weigh the person.

Hi Lynn

It is probably a standard warning on seaplane transfers. We were told it might happen when we flew to Athuruga last November. As it happened it didn%26#39;t.

The crew have to make sure the plane is properly balanced during flight. So I can imagine that if a particularly heavy passenger turned up at check in the ground crew might want to weigh them so that the plane crew can factor the weight into their calculations.

If the weighing of passengers is ever done I would assume they have a set of bathroom scales somewhere.

Anyway - I wouldn%26#39;t worry. Just enjoy your flight and your holiday.

Lynn this made me giggle as I was told this as well and not been a size 0 was worried LOL. We didn%26#39;t get weighed on either of our visits and never saw anyone else. They didn%26#39;t even weigh our luggage (or at least we didn%26#39;t see them) and we had very large dive bags.

I don%26#39;t know how you can sleep with excitement. I%26#39;m off in 7 days to Egypt and haven%26#39;t packed yet!!! Doing that this weekend but I know when I get some of my stuff out I just know I will get pangs for the Maldives.

hiya - well, do you know, i have just lost three and half stones for this holiday!!! SO proud of that!! But in spite of that, the thought of standing on scales in front of a planeful of people horrified me!! haha - glad to hear its not likely to happen then so thank you for putting my mind at rest! I will now think no more about that and get back to dreaming of white sand and cocktails!

And as for sleeping - I just cant!!! I keep jumping up and looking in my already packed suitcase! Even our passports are already in the hand luggage!!

Hi Lynn

Well done you!! I wish I could lose 3 and half stone!! I%26#39;m leaving on Monday so perhaps I have left it a bit late!!

Please don%26#39;t mention the diet word. Not only can%26#39;t I go to the maldives this year (although I am still trying) because of the bl**dy wedding, but I am also dieting as well so that as Mother of the Bride I don%26#39;t show her up!!!

it must have been all those helpings of apple crumble and pina coladas at Reethi last year!!

Softail

I have a theory to protect my weight loss... see if this stacks up... I reckon I will be swimming all day every day.....and walking from the water bungalow to the restaurant and back 3 times per day.... that should balance out the odd pina colada or ten and apple crumble or five? What do you think!

Lynn

That is perfect dieting logic! I like your thinking!

I%26#39;ll just have to make sure I swim a little bit harder when I am snorkelling next week!
