Hi
We are there from the 3rd March for 2 weeks, can%26#39;t wait!!
Can anyone advise on whether we need to take sea shoes as we have heard that the sand / coral is a little painful?
We are taking flip flops for general wear and are using open heel fins for snorkling.
Many thanks

Beach Shoes?
Hi Jon,
If you are using open heel fins then just wear your boots if you feel the coral under your feet, thats what I do to get in/out over the dead coral, its not so much the sand but the dead coral that causes the cuts etc.
Anyway you posted on the Baa atoll, but what island...
Reethi, royal, soneva etc.... not that it matters the same reply applies to any island but interested in where you are going.

Beach Shoes?
As Emu said if you have open heeled fins, you will have boots to wear with them.
Been to Reethi twice and never used beach shoes for walkng round the island. Yes occasionally you have to watch where you are going, but generally I oly use them getting in and out of the water to go snorkelling.

There are open heeled fins on the market that are designed to be worn without wetboots, they may have these in which case take some neoprene shoes with you
regards susie
HI Emu
We are going to Reethi, thanks for the advice on the beach shoes.
Now think we might go for the open heel fin and buy some neoprene socks to wear with the fins, giving us the flexibility and protection from coral on our heels.
Kind Regards
Jon and Ang

Hi Jon and Ang
we are also going 2nd march for two weeks - look forward to seeing you there!!!
I am uncontrollable now having read all this stuff - literally counting the days, mins and seconds. Have found so many unbelievable photos!! I have read back to all these question and answers dating back to 2006 and found some amazing links to more photos - just serves to make me more excited!!
Hi Lyn your post brought back memories of when we were looking for an island to visit for our 40th wedding aniversary in 2007. We chose Reethi for many reasons, close house reef, sea plane transfer, spa, small island, but also because it was a resort that did not have one bad review, although some people may not have liked it there dislike was personal. You will not be disappointed you have chosen a fantastic island (although erosion is now taking its toll on the beach) with wonderful staff.
Thanks - do you know, like the rest of us on here no doubt, i did so much research before deciding on which island - and without doubt this one has come up with the most positive reviews. I just cant stop reading them - over and over! And gazing at everyones gorgeous photos too.. and dreaming... as only 11 sleeps to go!
