I%26#39;ve been looking at Trip Advisor every day for months, looking at places to go for our honeymoon in August. We have now decided on a tour in Sri Lanka followed by a week in the Maldives. However...I am more than ever confused by which resort to choose in the Maldives.
We have narrowed our choices down to:
Angsana Ihuru (deluxe beachfront villa)
Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru (deluxe beachfront villa)
Lily Beach (lagoon villa A/I)
Taj Exotica and Spa
From all of the reviews on trip advisor, these resorts all seem fab, its just which one to choose? We have never been to the Maldives before and are going purely from peoples advice and recommendations.
I haven%26#39;t found much info about the renovated Lily Beach - has it got a good house reef?
If we were to go to either Angsana or Banyan Tree, we would like to include 1 night on the Velaa boat, so this also has an impact on our choices.
Taking this all into consideration, which would you choose?? Are there any other resorts in a similar price bracket that we should consider or do you think these are valid choices?
Please help! I%26#39;ve never posted on here before but I just keep getting more and more confused!!

Hi there,
I went to the Banyan tree vabbinfaru for a week last February and would really recommend it, especially for a honeymoon.
The resort is amazing. You can book ( i would recommend you do that in advance though) the spa treatments for couples and they are truly awesome. I%26#39;m a big spa fan and I have found it to be the best ever.
The settings are lovely and each night ( when on an all inclusive basis) the diners are fantastic and very romantic.
For your 1st trip to the Maldives, this would be really creme de la creme of resorts. It%26#39;s only 40mns by speedboat and you can take a free day trip to the sister neighbouring island (Angsana), which is far inferior to Banyan tree and looks quite ';resort%26#39;ish'; in comparison.
However bear in mind that Banyan tree is very quiet, that you can walk around the whole island in about 10mns and that if you are truly after relaxation and chilling out, this is the place for you.
The snorkelling is fabulous, so is the diving and each villa get 2 super comfortable big lilos to spend hours floating on the magnificient turquoise water, hardly anyone else in the water.
A truly fantastic place for a honeymoon I%26#39;d say.
i hope this helps, you can ask me any questions if you like.

Thankyou very much for your reply - Banyan Tree does look amazing. We are still deciding which resort at the mo but appreaciate your response.
Whilst you were there did you hear much about thier Velaa boat?? Can%26#39;t find much on the web about it.
Thanks again!
lily beach used to have a gigantic wavebreaker wall that was really ugly ... i don%26#39;t know if that has been improved with te overall renovation but the chance of it being the same would keep me away .
from your list , i would go with ihuru . its a beautiful , small , round island .. just like you imagine the typical tropical dream island to look like.
