What would you do in this situation please?

Have booked 3 premium seats to go to maldives in Feb 2010. They were just over 300 pounds each so not cheap. I booked them as a one off treat having never done a premium seat or businness seat in my life thought it might be a treat.

However I am now finding out from reading on this forum that you are often not seated togther which for me would be a bit of a problem as I am an anxious flier and prefer to have my long suffering husband sat next to me so I can squeeze his hand off on take off and landing *LOL*

Now I am wondering whether to stick with what I have chosen as it is a pecial treat (20th wedding anniversary) or should I change to economy seating where it seems you usually are sat together?

I can see positives and negatives for both really.

What would you do?

My husband does not know I have booked premium as it%26#39;s a surprise for him and my Son.

Fudge,

Stick with it, we have done a few times and have always been seated together. The hosties are always helpfull in shuffling people abou, you are allocated seats at time of booking when premium so contact the company / airline and ask whay you have been allocated. although at £900 Me i would keep the money-buy a new bag and have a joint spa session or 3.

Hi,

You don’t mention which airline you are using? In my experience the premium seats are in twos so I reckon you’re right and that you’ll be separated by the aisle from the third member of your party. The cabins are quieter and you’re segregated from the rest of the plane usually as they pull curtains over the entrance to the premium cabin so you usually get the use of the WC pretty exclusively in your part of the cabin although there isn’t anything stopping anyone from the back of the plane using them too from what I can tell. I think the premium seats are a cheap way of experiencing a bit of luxury on a flight without breaking the bank-business and first class are literally £1000’s each way and I’d never pay for either out of my own pocket.

They’re worth it for me as I’m tall at 6’3” just for the space, you also get your drinks included and it’s just a ‘nicer place to be.’ If you could get the exit seats maybe this is the best compromise? I’ve never been able to get hold of them but are a much cheaper way of having more space?

Flying with Firstchoice/Thomson premium

Worst case scenario, you get to the airport and you are split, you tell the check-in you are a very scared passenger and THEY will seat you with your hubby.

I have flown all over the world for 20 years as an adult and 17 with my wife and we have never ever been split up. When the 3 of us travel sometimes the con-fig is 2 4 2, so 2 seat together and the other gets the seat across the aisle!

Keep it booked. You can always email the airline with your booking ref with a note to ensure you are seated together because of your fear!

Forgot to add, get to the airport early, really early, be first in the Q and get your seats sorted first!

Our flight will be at 6pm ish on a sunday evening so what time would you suggest we get there to check in?

Some have suggested day before check in but am not sure how that works.

Thanks all of you for your comments. I really do appreicate it.

Most check-ins open about 2-3hrs before the flight, I would get to the airport for about 2;30pm if it is a 6pm flight, get to the front of the Q. You can also buy a business lounge pass, which is a nice touch. It usually costs about £15-20 each, nice way to relax before your flight.

Which airline r u flying with and from which airport?

flying Thomson/first choice from gatwick

Here is the link for lounges at Gatwick airport for both termials!
